Momoi sustainable farming is a project of the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi – East of Rift valley region. Its foremost objective is to empower the lower subukia community through imparting of practical skills in modern farming practices.

The project opened its doors in 2019 following the official inauguration of its farm – St. Elizabeth demo farm – which hosts the project headquarters. The farm sits on 13 acres of arable land where all trainings on sustainable farming are carried out.

The project is funded by Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) and Missionszentrale der Franziskaner- both of which are German organizations as well as The Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi.

So far, two sets of women totaling 120 have gone through the full training program and graduated. The program which puts more emphasis on modern farming for improved livelihoods is open to all men and women from the lower Subukia region.
